One of my coaching clients recently sold her business and moved onto pastures new. Far from this being a story of failure or someone not getting what they want from their small business, it’s a wee triumph and one I feel blessed to have played a small part in.
Joanne and I have known each other online since about 2007, back in the days of blogs and internet forums and before social media had really taken off.
We have circled round one another’s online businesses and it’s been inspirational watching her balance being a busy single mum of three children and growing a thriving business doing something she loves.
Joanne was an active member in my Gather & Grow group and has also undertaken 1:1 coaching with me to work on her email marketing and other business areas.
Here’s what Joanne had to say when she got in touch to let me know about her decision to move on from her business, The Crochet Project:
“I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the work we did together.
As you may have heard I made the decision to close the business to pursue other opportunities. When I announced it on my newsletter (the one that you helped me turn from an afterthought into the linch pin of my marketing effort!) I received six different offers to buy it!
I am certain that all the work we put into both the one to one and group sessions I did with you is what made it such an attractive opportunity.
And I also want to thank you so much for the journalling course – my ongoing journaling was so important in helping me make such monumental decision to change career path. Discovering journalling on your course has really improved my mental health and given me a way to connect to what’s really important.”
I was so delighted to get this feedback from Joanne and when we talked further about the decisions she has made and where she’s going in life and work, she also provided me with the following as a parting testimonial:
“I tend to be quite cynical about coaching as it’s an industry where a lot of people without much experience or sense tend to flourish but I really needed a listening ear and a bit of advice in my business.
Sarah is the real deal, with years of experience in marketing and running her own business she knows her stuff on the practical level.
She really understands the often unseen challenges that female entrepreneurs and business women face and her own work/ life balance is frankly an inspiration. You won’t get grind culture here, a steely determination to help you set good targets and meet them yes but in a way that works for you.”
