Jessica works as a textile artist and tutor. She makes and sells her art, small gift items and kits and also deliver workshops to arts organisations, stitch groups and individuals, developed from her own creative practice.
Jessica came to work with me 1:1 in 2022 after the covid lockdown period. During the lockdown she had pivoted her business to being more online but often felt frustrated and a bit overwhelmed and just felt like she was floundering. She wanted to work with someone she could trust, who would listen and who could “look in” on what she was doing and offer advice and perspective.
When asked what it was like to work with me, Jess said:
“Refreshing, invigorating, motivating…I could go on! Sarah really listened, often unpicking some of my throwaway comments and deep-diving into where they were coming from. Take for example that initially, in my mind, I thought I’d ask for help with maybe a website review, e-commerce or mailing list tips in our meetings…Instead we covered overwhelm, boundaries, confidence, resilience and building continuity.
The best part of being coached by Sarah was the one to one aspect – I had Sarah’s full attention (which felt very indulgent!) and she already knew my business so well and I valued and respected her thoughts and advice. I would describe her as perceptive, generous and empowering!
What I achieved during the coaching and mentoring was very much a mindset shift for me – and because of this shift I am in turn more equipped to tackle some of the practical tasks I initially thought I’d bring up in coaching! I feel more balanced, know my working capacity and have built in more time for creative play which I was really struggling with this time last year.
